SEO remains — an answer channel is added
Search engines return links; generative systems compose answers. Ranking alone is no longer enough. Content must be clear and well supported so systems can extract and attribute individual claims.
GEO does not replace SEO. Technical discoverability, authority and useful content remain the foundation, expanded by entity clarity, answer structure and citability.
Six strong GEO signals
A machine needs to understand who is making a claim, which experience supports it and how current it is.
- Consistent organisation and author data
- Answer-first paragraphs under clear questions
- Original data, methods and credible examples
- Clean internal linking and structured data
- Update dates and accountable expertise
- Mentions in relevant independent sources
Measurement without false precision
GEO cannot yet be measured like a stable keyword rank. A repeated question set, share of answer, brand mentions, citations and qualified referral traffic provide a more useful view.
The questions should reflect real buying and problem contexts and be tested regularly across multiple systems.
